Ep. 15: Meeting Needs in Relationships with Dr. Kristie Overstreet

In this episode we are talking to Dr. Kristie Overstreet, a clinical sexologist, psychotherapist, and founder of Therapy Department, a private practice that provides consulting, training, therapy, and speaking services. Dr. Kristie spends her days helping people navigate their relationships and identities while growing both personally and professionally. We discuss boundaries, the importance of understanding our own needs and how/where they are being met, how to practice more vulnerability, and how to know if your relationship just isn’t right for you.

We discuss:

• Boundaries – what they are, how to set them, and how to know the difference between when your partner crosses a boundary vs. when it’s really your own issues or stuff being triggered.
• The importance of understanding our own needs, wants, and desires and how we can have all of them met in different aspects of relationships in our lives instead of placing ALL of them on our partner.
• The importance of vulnerability in a relationship and how to practice more vulnerability in your relationship – and it’s actually very simple.
• How to figure out if a relationship is right for you AND if it isn’t, how it’s okay to be aware of that but also not be ready to do anything about it yet – give yourself grace.
• Set your life up to work for you instead of being a victim to life.
