Ep. 24: Living in the Moment to Overcome Anxiety with Stand-Up Comedian Steve Rogers
Originally from Syracuse, NY Steven Rogers is a New York City based comedian who has been making others laugh for most of his life. Steven made his national TV debut in 2019 on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and has been featured in multiple comedy festivals such as Lucy Fest and the Rogue Island Comedy Festival. He also has a popular anxiety themed podcast with fellow comedian Andrew Schiavone called, “Panic Attacking.” Steven’s comedic ability has established him as a feature act in comedy clubs and also a regular opener for Brian Regan in theaters across the country. His clever rapid-fire material full of observations about his life and the world around him has entertained audiences from coast to coast! And he will be headlining at Carolines Comedy Club on Broadway in NYC on Tuesday, March 24.
In this episode, we discuss:
· How he first learned he had anxiety and the lack of education and support he initially got from the medical community.
· Why standup comedy surprisingly doesn’t make him more anxious.
· Why not just living in the moment is important, but also accepting each moment as it is – for better or worse.
· What he’s found that really helps his anxiety.
· Men and mental health and why he’s so open with his, and how more men – including comics – are becoming more open with their struggles with anxiety or depression.
· And how owning his story helps him live more in the moment.
